House Of Billiam - Dress The Streets - EP1: Lamposts (extended version)

Our boys at somethinkmotion made a video for House of Billiam, the first in what is going to be a series of  viral wonders for the bespoke clothing label.

Directed by Kazim, filmed and edited by Chris Leete. What a right pair of clever clogs. Looking forward to EP2 x

Sod off Chezza

If I was to list off all the reasons to why I dislike chezza we'd be here all day, plus you'd have heard them all before; talentless, vacuous, shallow, mind numbingly boring, ludicrously voluminous hair etc etc.

What I really don't get is why Rankin decided to shoot some wanky art video in black and white of said talentless troll rolling around in a wet t-shirt to mark to Launch of his new Magazine, Hunger. This horrendous online shoot entitled 'Tear it up' was shot for Hunger TV to mark the launch of the magazine on Thursday. I rate Rankin, who doesn't? But WTF was he thinking? Jefferson Hack wouldn't touch her with a bloody barge pole.

If you can stomach it, here's the video..

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG sweedie.

It's back for a 3-PART Christmas special!

Current obsession - DIY YouTube acapella videos

I'm obsessed. You could say it's verging on the point of being unhealthy. Spending my time trawling through hundreds of videos, before I realise the time it's lunch and I haven't opened a single email.

Etta James classic + Acapella cover by soulful teen = The one.

So Vogue had another Gala, something to do with a council of fashion designers blah blah blah...

These three beauts caught our eye...

Bill Cunningham, The one and only...

He was around long before the digital age, bloggers and twitter feeds. You could say Bill Cunningham is the original trend spotter, the first street style photographer. He is. However I find the term 'street style' too casual a title for a man whose dedicated his whole life to documenting style, chronicling trends and capturing so honestly a history of fashion. He published his first group of street photographs in The NY Times in December 1978, soon after it became a regular series. He still works at the New York Times, 81 years of age out on the streets on Manhattan everyday. Check out his video column 'Style on the Street' here

So we were just about to watch the September Issue for the 10th time when it was suggested we watch Bill Cunningham: New York, a documentary film about the life of this amazing man. I won't go on, no need to give you my synopsis, just watch it.
I dare you not to fall in love with him.

My Owse, My rooles.

Prepare for leather skull caps to go mainstream. Hipsters in Berlin have been wearing these for years, they'll be devastated when they hit the highstreet. They'll just have to come up with something else.. Tin-foil turban anyone?

Iggy Iggy Iggy

We're just going to pretend she's not from Australia. Then it's fine.

Everything else we're into. Especially the gold leather studded jacket/smoke machine combo.

Whoever styled this video is a demi-god.

Versace Launch NYC

Prince played the after party, Nikki Minaj still looks like hello kitty threw up over her and Blake Lively is full of complete and utter shit. Nothing pisses me off more then when gossip girls turned 'style icons' waffle on about the intense thought process of designers, or the hidden message in Marc Jacobs A/W collection for LV, it's a bit like when Lily Allen decided she was into Chanel. SHUT UP. If you can ignore Lively's slappable face, peep prince on the front row and Hilary Alexander's Glitter scalp.

Me and Mr Jones

The most beautiful hook recorded.

"I never wanted you to be my man, I just need your company..."

Amy Winehouse & Nas - Like Smoke

Obviously theres lots of hype surrounding the Lioness LP. I'm just not sure how I feel about it. Of course I can't wait to hear it and I already know it will be beautiful. I'm just not sure how I feel about posthumous albums in general, we all remember what happened after 2-Pac died - 7 (or maybe 8..?) posthumous studio albums later... I can't say I'm a massive 2-Pac fan but can imagine that 7 albums later, the record company could have perhaps been accused of scraping the barrel, just a little..? Correct me if i'm wrong, they might have been the best 7 albums he ever recorded (so to speak), but the issue for me doesnt lie in the content itself, more so in the knowing absence of spirit.  Hoping that won't be the case with Amy, that 'Lioness' will be the one and the only. She was meticulous and would have probably vetoed most of the material that has been used, a second would almost certainly be a desecration to her memory and how she liked to work.

Heres to the first and the last. RIP.

We miss her.

Guest bloggings- Sian O'Donnell

Pom Pom pioneer Sian O'Donnell on why Ashish is the man for her.

Ashish is my Main Man.
Sequins, keyboard tuxedos and The Statue of Liberty.... in a world where designers take themselves far too seriously to the extent their exquisite designs lurch on the bore factor (Stella McCartney; Carrot.Up.Bum: Remove) we have Ashish. The brilliant mastermind who believes neon leopard print, Red Indian headdresses and bedazzling sunflowers will someday, rule the world.

His woman makes an entrance. She steps into the room and has arrived; perhaps not in couture style, but in a tongue-in-cheek, expressive nod that puts two fingers up to the rigid formats of today. Here is a designer, who after graduating from Central Saint Martins, has marched his fierce looking, brothel creeper stomping models, down the catwalk in sparkling giraffe print harems, stars ‘n’ stripes and green lipstick one season; pure nineties London grunge the next, in spider web tights and knitted punk Union Jack cricket jumpers; to heavy metal flame luxe sportswear, sequined Nike shift dresses, McDonalds emblazed cowboy boots and floral thigh splitting maxis. Seeing his S/S 2012 collection this season at LFW was a definite highlight for me; to the extent I had to physically stop myself from running onto the catwalk, snatch a daisy out of the stomping work boots they were stuffed into and launch myself onto the lap of Paloma Faith.

A fixed favourite of mine though is still his A/W 2009 collection. My god, take a look if you are not familiar with the dazzling sight of clashing multicoloured pom pom suits and ski hats, miniature leopard print bowlers, a tiger mounting stone wash denim with wild exuberance, circus striped pants flamed with zebra sequins and a shimmering chainmail onesie with only eyeholes visible. A complete flower pouncing, jaw dropping, label savvy, mad hatter experience that illustrates British eccentricity at its finest. (After finding the amazing gold wedges that were used in the show, thrown into the sale bin at Topshop for £30... there was no going back for me, or the dimwit who put them there in the first place.)
Ashish is all about the joy of fashion; contradicting colour, religion, brands and having a “Whatever” attitude to style. Finally, it is about being proud to be who you are. Amen Gupta!

Hipsteriffic

Why does everyone suddenly hate her because her lips are fake?

Dripping in Prada's finest gems, Lana Del Ray looks every inch the pop pin-up. LUSH. Plus we're really into those white lace leggings, WANT.

Lindsey Thornburg

Lindsey Thornburg makes beautiful cloaks. First off, I just love the word 'cloak', you don't hear anybody saying, "check out the new cloak I bought from zara". Secondly, if you're the bird in the cloak you can be safe in the knowledge you are the source of all the surrounding cloak envy.

Here's the new video lookbook 'TOM FOOL ARE WE' from her A/W 2011 collection.
