I'll take your brain to another Dimension.....

By the time you read this, the HOJ posse will be in Croatia, or more precisely, DIMENSIONS festival, avin' it large in Pula. Clear seas, pumping music, stunning villa, beautiful views surrounding rolling hills, an incredible abandoned fort as a backdrop, love and laughter with friends (you get the picture) can only mean one thing- COLOUR!

Before the nights draw in and the gloom covers us all in negativity and shivers, we need to grab every opportunity like it is our last to inject vitality into the end-of-summer-so-now-want-to-kill-ourself-wardrobe. Whether you have also booked a last minute holiday somewhere warm, ripply and Mediterranean, are off to Bestival or planning to adsorb the rays in your local park; there really is no excuse not to get your vibrant on. You can always add ribbed tights, a pea coat, fur stole and cashmere mittens over the tequila sunrise dress in winter to give Jack Frost a startle on an icy November morning- I think you can call that an investment?

See you on other side! Now pass the calamari down will you...

Two's Up!

Walking aimlessly around Secret Garden Party with tinsel in hair, glitter in eyes and a colourful tripped vision of perfection surrounded by friends, trees and blurred lines- it truly was a stunning realisation of, “Ohemgeee I’ve never been so happy in my life.” Whilst the lake glistened, splashed and then burned in a violent burst of beauty; music jammed, quivered and slammed and friends dance, fell, rolled and then flew-the dreamlike state of tranquility amongst everyone was complete. Feathers were huge, sequins rainbow and clothes… what clothes? The only garment that mattered at SGP was the two-piece; oh yes! The HOJ two-piece is back, shaking to a trend that is still recovering 5 days later….

Soundwave, Garden, Glastonbury, Lovebox, Found, SGP, Eastern Electrics, Thailand, Ibiza… the infamous HOJ handmade two-piece has been there, keeping us fully bootylicious-proof along the way. And it’s returned! With Dimensions festival just over a month away, it is not just the cross-trainer that is back with a vengeance but the array of printed and fabulous textured fabrics too. Starting subtle with chic monochrome, but soon growing brighter than the emerald green tree lights at The Labyrinth stage. (God, take us back.)

Worn with pumps and John Lennon’s in the daytime for a casual affair; wedges and naturally sprung curls for stylish evening attire and then hologram-me-up, blue eyebrows and mesh kimonos for partaaaay time later! The two-piece is a guaranteed way to attract all the right kind of attention.

Style Envy: Solange Knowles

Move over Queen Bee, your lil’ sis is about to nick your limelight in a citric blast of rainbow prints, tantalizing textures and fusion of shapes (she’s basically a carton of five alive)- Solange Knowles, you are our new fav!

Whether it is the indigo blue, cyber dog braids; the 70’s Studio 54 gold lamĂ© flares, ethnic printed playsuits, headscarves in fuchsia with traditional bold jewellery- to the Prada suits with ankle straps and afro fever alongside a beaded Chanel maxi. The list is endless to the vast amount of looks Sol can flip her neon hand at and achieve massive style success; it makes BeyoncĂ© look like Kate Middleton in comparison. She may have the moves, the voice, the stage presence and the life of a goddess, but the endless toned pins of the other Knowles sibling can rock a harem pant and kimono like no other. (No wonder the genius footwear designer, Sophia Webster has chosen Solange as her muse.)

The HOJ clan are off to Dimensions festival in Croatia later on this summer and you can be sure they’ll be tweaks and twists of Ms. Knowles packed tightly within our baggage allowance. With leopard scarves multiplying as headdresses, two-pieces, a sarong, a towel, a bag, a sheet, a cover up, a bed, a bib… this look was made for an Easy Jet flight. It may be a tad hazy what the model/singer/DJ/fashion party attendee actually does but I think she may have found her forte- if you can’t compete with the most powerful woman in the world, don’t- simply do it your own way.
